La Dolce Bokarina Fitout: Mediterranean Charm Meets Modern Servery
When creating a self-serve hospitality space, the interior design has to balance robust functionality with an inviting, brand-defining atmosphere. For the new La Dolce location in Bokarina, Queensland (featuring Tutto Freddo Yoghurt), designer Kirryn O'Neill achieved exactly that by anchoring the venue's aesthetic with a striking, geometric ceramic feature wall.
By utilising the dual-design capabilities of the Spanish Country series from COCO Tiles and Mosaics, the fitout team transformed the self-serve yogurt station into a Mediterranean-inspired focal point that is as practical as it is beautiful.

The Hero Wall — Spanish Country Summer Escape
The defining architectural feature of the La Dolce interior is the expansive sage green and cream feature wall that runs the length of the venue, serving both as a backdrop for the banquette seating and as the structural housing for the self-serve Tutto Freddo yogurt machines. To achieve this continuous, rhythmic pattern, Kirryn O'Neill specified the Spanish Country Series Summer Escape (Transpose) Satin 300x300mm Ceramic Tile.
The Spanish Country Series is designed around Mediterranean charm and dual-design geometry. The 'Transpose' variant features a sage green half-moon set against a cream background (the inverse of the original Summer Escape tile). Because the design is perfectly symmetrical, the 300x300mm squares can be rotated during installation to create entirely new interlocking shapes. At La Dolce, the tilers laid them in a repeating full-circle pattern, producing a custom geometric mural that brings a soft, vintage aesthetic to the modern fitout.
Engineered for Hospitality
Behind the soft, hand-painted look of the glaze, the Spanish Country tile is engineered for the heavy demands of a commercial food environment. The tiles are rated for both residential and commercial walls, making them the perfect choice for a self-serve yogurt station where splashes and spills are inevitable. The glazed satin surface (P2 slip rating) ensures the wall can be quickly and easily wiped down at the end of a busy service.
Furthermore, the 8.9mm thick rectified ceramic body allows for tight, precise grout joints. This is particularly important when wrapping the tiles around the recessed niches that house the heavy yogurt machines, ensuring a clean, architectural finish without bulky trims.
Grounding the Design
The brilliance of the La Dolce fitout lies in its soft, cohesive palette. The sage green geometric wall is perfectly complemented by the illuminated 'La Dolce Bokarina' signage, pale terrazzo-look floor tiles, and minimalist white cafe furniture. Vibrant, citrus-patterned scatter cushions on the banquette seating add a final punch of Mediterranean warmth. It is a space that feels fresh, energetic, and effortlessly welcoming.
